Median nerve decompression

The aim of this procedure is to remove the pressure in the tunnel. Ligaments in the wrist and palm are exposed using an incision with bisectioning of the flexorum retinaculum, releasing the nerve from adjacent structures. Visual check of the tunnel to exclude any structural abnormalities in the channel is an integral part of the procedure. While retinacula and distal forearm fascia intersection must be complete and is essential for good therapeutic effect, extensive release of the nerve from its surroundings is undesirable.

Duration of surgery: 30 minutes
Length of hospital stay: 1 day
