Appendectomy

Laparoscopy is always used for this procedure. Conversion to regular surgery is done only in select cases. We use laparoscopic instruments to loosen the the appendix from the mesoappendix.  Harmonic scalpel or bipolar coagulation are used. Appendix resectioning is carried out using a linear stapler. In this type of procedure it is necessary to review the end section of the small intestine and pelvis.

Duration of surgery: 20–40 minutes
Length of hospital stay: 1–3 days
